Education Community Service Award

The Award
Since 1999, The Cincinnatus Association has annually presented the John E. Pepper Education Community Service Award to an individual who has demonstrated commitment, compassion and perseverance as a volunteer on behalf of public education in Cincinnati.  The award was established to honor its first recipient, John E. Pepper, who, in addition to distinguishing himself at the very highest levels of corporate responsibility with Procter & Gamble Company, selflessly dedicated his own volunteer efforts on behalf of public education in Cincinnati.

The winner of the John E. Pepper Education Community Service Award also receives a cash stipend of $500 payable to the charity of the winner's choice and is honored by The Cincinnatus Association at a dinner award meeting.

Eligibility
Any individual performing volunteer work on behalf of public education in Cincinnati may be nominated.

Nomination

  1. Nomination may be submitted by anyone other than the nominee.
  2. Nomination may be submtted using the Pepper Award Nomination Form, or by providing the same information in written or email form, to the address indicated.
  3. Nomination must be submitted to the Secretary prior to the established deadline. 

Selection of Award Winner
The Executive Committee of Cincinnatus Association has the sole privilege and responsibility of selecting the winner.  The opinions and advice of the respective committees, panels and individual members are considered key factors in this decision.

Selection Criteria
While there are no specific or formal guidelines, the intent is to recognize an individual whose volunteer efforts on behalf of public education in Cincinnati have reflected a substantial personal commitment and have resulted in significant benefits to students and/or long-term improvements in the educational system in Cincinnati.  Please be sure to indicate the magnitude of any results and impacts, as well as the visibility of this individual's efforts to the public and their coworkers.  Any exceptional contribution can be recognized, such as a significant individual event or a long-term commitment or involvement, particularly of a selfless and/or community-minded nature.
