(formerly the Citizen Crusader Award)

The Award
Since 1994, The Cincinnatus Association has annually presented the Citizen Cincinnatus Award of Excellence to its own outstanding member.  This award recognizes the exceptional contribution of an individual Association member to the work of a panel, committee or special assignment.  The intent is to both reward the past exemplary work of an individual and encourage increased panel participation which is the lifeblood of The Cincinnatus Association.

Eligibility
Any member of The Cincinnatus Association may be nominated except members of the Executive Committee and Panel Chairpersons.  (Panel Vice-Chairpersons are eligible.)

Nomination

  1. Nomination may be submitted by any member of The Cincinnatus Association other than the nominee.
  2. Nomination may be submitted using the Citizen Award Nomination Form, or by providing the same information in written or email form, to the address indicated.
  3. Nomination must be submitted to the Secretary prior to the established deadline. 

Selection of Award Winner
The Executive Committee of Cincinnatus Association has the sole privilege and responsibility of selecting the winner.  The opinions and advice of the respective committees, panels and individual members are considered key factors in this decision.

Selection Criteria
While there are no specific or formal guidelines, the intent is to recognize a panel member who has done his or her job with gusto and thus been an example for others.  Any exceptional contribution can be recognized, such as:

  • Regularly attending panel or committee meetings and participating in a meaningful discussion.
  • Coming up with a creative idea which developed into an important project.
  • Writing an important report for a panel in an especially artful manner.
  • Organizing a panel presentation.
  • Taking the lead on a project.
  • Spending an extraordinary amount of time on a project.
  • Raising funds for a project.
  • Making a brilliant presentation to the organization.
  • Handling a sensitive issue in an especially competent manner.
  • Giving persuasive testimony at a public hearing on behalf of the Cincinnatus Association.
  • Otherwise performing the assigned job in an excellent manner.
