Initiatives on this November's Ballot
Cincinnatus Association needs your voice.
What positions will we endorse?
The number and complexity of initiatives anticipated to be on this Fall's ballot continues to increase. How do you and your neighbors figure them all out? Do you have some important information for others? Do you have an opinion on any (or all) of the ballot issues? There are many who do. At this meeting, we'll present and discuss several of the key initiatives, and members present will vote on whether Cincinnatus will take a public position on these issues. Learn what the experts have to say, and add your own ideas into the conversation!
Over the summer and into the fall, Cincinnatus panels have been at work reviewing and analyzing many of these initiatives. The panels have provided important information through their web bulletin boards and have worked on public forums and campaigns to provide more, balanced information and opportunities to hear those directly involved. Take advantage of these sources to become a better informed citizen.
Immediately following this member meeting, there will be a Cincinnati Mayoral Forum broadcast live from WCPO, cosponsored by Cincinnatus Association. Those interested are welcome to stay and watch the forum on the big screen at WCPO-TV. Click here for more information.
Also, on Monday, October 5th at 7pm, Cincinnatus is cosponsoring a Forum of the CPS School Board Candidates. Click here for more information.

President's Welcome Back Message
Dear Cincinnatus Members:
Welcome back for our 2009-2010 Cincinnatus year. I hope everyone had an enjoyable and productive summer. The organizational year we're about to begin should be a good one. Participation from each of you is important for the success of our organization.
Many of our Cincinnatus panels were hard at work during the summer. They will be sharing information on the results of their activities when we reconvene in September. One group, in particular, has been making excellent progress. A special committee led by members Ron Miller and Sean Rugless have been working on developing an updated strategic plan for Cincinnatus. This process began with a survey sent to all current members, many former members, and to a number of non-members with interest in the fortunes of our organization. We received an excellent response to the survey and it yielded many good ideas for consideration. The committee then analyzed all the data and identified critical themes and issues.
Our first meeting in September will be devoted to sharing these results and to engaging everyone at the meeting in the next phase of the process. The programming committee led by Melinda Kruyer has worked hard to create a meeting format that will be interesting and engaging. I'm sure that everyone will enjoy this kick-off for our new year. So, please make every effort to attend.
See you on September 8th!
Bill Scheyer
President

The Strategic Planning Committee has been working diligently through the summer toward a reconsideration of our Association's purposes, mechanics and effectiveness. This included a focus group, an extensive survey and a leaders' working session to craft information for the membership to now consider and discuss at the September meeting. Member Dinner Meeting: Strategic Plan at the University Club
Cincinnatus cordially invites and encourages you to attend our next Member Dinner Meeting.
5:30 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2009
The University Club at 401 East Fourth Street, Cincinnati, OH
Let Your Voice Be Heard
Your Cincinnatus Association needs your voice.
What are we today? What should we be tomorrow?
Over the summer, our members and other community leaders articulated their individual ideas for increasing the effectiveness of our organization and focusing on what's most important. Through the Strategic Planning Committee, participants identified alternative initiatives and strategies for greater success in achieving our mission. Information on these initiatives and strategies can be found in the next article below.
Next, we want to think this through together as an organization. So, at our September 8th meeting, we'll explore -- and confirm through conversation -- who we are as civic activists, the impact we hope to have in our community, and the organizational structure that will enable success. Together, we will tap into the collective wisdom present to guide our next steps as community leaders and change makers.
What eventually will emerge is the CINCINNATUS STRATEGIC PLAN 2010.
Cincinnatus is at a crossroads. Let's navigate it together.
