FLASH: Look for a report in the November 9 issue of the Business Courier detailing the findings of the Stable Integrated Communities Report
ARTS AND CULTURE PANEL
Ø Kathy Merchant of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation arts study is consulting with the committee as we prepare to proceed with the CET televised forum we were discussing earlier in the year. That forum is planned for March, 2008. One of our goals is to inform the public about the important role arts & culture play in a community, making the case for "diversifying and growing the pie" for the cultural life/institutions of Cincinnati.
Ø We are also exploring synergies with the Chamber of Commerce's Agenda 360 action team/committee focusing on arts & culture.
Ø The next meeting of the Cincinnatus Arts and Culture Committee takes place on Thursday, November 8, 5:00 PM at the CET/WGUC/WVXU building at 1223 Central Parkway behind Music Hall.
EDUCATION PANEL
Ø An effort to support the November 6th Cincinnati Public School Tax Levy
Ø Development of a plan to get a broad group of organizations and individuals to assist the Cincinnati Public Schools in getting increased ongoing public support
Ø Begin a dialogue to explore alternatives for selecting/electing members to the Cincinnati Public School Board.
GOVERNMENT PANEL
Ø The Panel co-sponsored a debate on WCET between Commissioners Todd Portune and Pat DeWine relating to Issue 27 (the Hamilton County "comprehensive safety plan" or "jail tax" issue). A replay of the program is available on www.cetconnect.org.
Ø The Panel continues to work with several other civic organizations on efforts to assist the City of Cincinnati in improving its budget process, including citizen input.
Ø The Panel is exploring ways in which Cincinnatus members can participate in Agenda 360, a regional visioning project sponsored by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber of Commerce.
ADDITIONAL NEWS
Ø Cincinnatus was a co-sponsor of a WCET program on issue 27 (jail tax) last week. Tune into www.cetconnect.org for the replay. Very professionally done.
Ø Next dinner meeting is November 13. Put it on your calendar.
