Arts and Culture PANEL
Ø  On Tuesday, March 18, live televised forum at CET, featuring Robert Lynch, CEO of Americans for the Arts, exploring the impact a vibrant arts community has on the well-being of the entire community.

Ø  Panelists will include James Schwab, US Bank; Roxanne Qualls, City Council Member, Ellen van der Horst, Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber; Nancy Zimpher, University of Cincinnati President; and Nique Swan; Agenda 360.

Ø  Wine reception, 5:30 PM; dinner buffet at 5:45 PM. Attendees must be seated in the television studio by 6:45 PM. One-hour televised program begins promptly at 7:00 PM. CET is located at 1223 Central Parkway, behind Music Hall. Free on-street parking is available, or city garage for $1.50.

Education Panel:

Ø  Recruiting business partners, in collaboration with the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative, for three Cincinnati Public elementary schools

Ø  Endorsing and participating in the passage of the Cincinnati Public School tax levy

Ø  Expanding the Panel's efforts to include the Newport and Covington Public Schools

 

Government Panel:

Ø  Continues to work through the "Rookwood Five" group of civic organizations (Cincinnatus, Citizens for Civic Renewal ["CCR"], the League of Women Voters, the Urban League, and the Woman's City Club) on an effort to enhance citizen input into the biennial budget process of the City of Cincinnati. This program will involve assisting 13 neighborhood councils to develop and submit proposed spending priorities to the City's administration, Council.

Ø  Members have become active in Agenda 360 and CCR, as part of our commitment to promote collaboration between local governments and citizen engagement in local government

Ø  The Panel is planning to hold a retreat to discuss what its priorities should be and to develop a stronger work plan.

Community Inclusion Panel:

Ø  Staffed a booth at the recent Invest In Neighborhoods Summit to publicize the Stable Integrated Communities (SIC) Report.  Future presentations of the study results are scheduled for several local community councils in the coming weeks.

Ø  The Stephen Wilder Foundation has given Cincinnatus an additional $4,000 grant (in addition to $20,000 previously for the study) used in promoting and publicizing the SIC report.  Cincinnati Commitment materials have been updated as the panel works to re-launch the Commitment. Panel members are working to secure co-sponsorship.  A number of organizations have agreed to be co-sponsors.

Ø  Panel members will be meeting in the future to design the roll-out process and next steps for the Commitment's re-launch.
