2010 Strategic Plan

With broad input from members, former members and a wide range of our perceived constituents, the Strategic Planning Committee has produced a concise, action-oriented plan that provides a clear blueprint for our organization's activities for the coming years. The Executive Committee approved this plan at their January meeting, and directed its presentation to our members to ratify its adoption at the next regular member dinner meeting on February 9, 2010.

The 2010 Strategic Plan is intended to be an evolving document that can easily be updated periodically to adjust to changing circumstances, while still providing a stable framework for operations. A copy of this plan is available by clicking here.

Please review the 2010 Strategic Plan prior to the meeting, when we will discuss the plan, implementation steps, and opportunities for all members to become involved in ways that best suit their interests and personal schedules.

River-Based Environmental Education

P.A. DENNY RIVER EDUCATION CENTER - The P.A. Denny is a 3-deck sternwheeler that cruised West Virginia's Kanawha River for nearly three decades. It is now operated by the Foundation for Ohio River Education (FORE), a non-profit organization associated with the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO), as a floating classroom designed to introduce 4th - 12th graders to science and ecology concepts. The P.A. Denny features labs and equipment for the students' use during 4-5 hour voyages. It will be docked behind the Newport Aquarium and will be staffed and available for tours before and after our dinner presentation.

DINE WITH THE FISHES - Our dinner will be an outstanding buffet served in the Currents Ballroom, a special event venue with spectacular river views of the Cincinnati skyline at dusk.

DINNER PRESENTATION - Alan Vicory (ORSANCO), Heather Mayfield (FORE) and Miriam Kannan (NKU) will focus on the unique partnership between NKU's Department of Biological Sciences and FORE that provides river-based environmental education opportunities aboard the P.A. Denny for local science classes, teachers and local residents.

Initiatives on this November's Ballot
     Cincinnatus Association needs your voice.
     What positions will we endorse?

The number and complexity of initiatives anticipated to be on this Fall's ballot continues to increase. How do you and your neighbors figure them all out? Do you have some important information for others? Do you have an opinion on any (or all) of the ballot issues? There are many who do. At this meeting, we'll present and discuss several of the key initiatives, and members present will vote on whether Cincinnatus will take a public position on these issues. Learn what the experts have to say, and add your own ideas into the conversation!

Over the summer and into the fall, Cincinnatus panels have been at work reviewing and analyzing many of these initiatives. The panels have provided important information through their web bulletin boards and have worked on public forums and campaigns to provide more, balanced information and opportunities to hear those directly involved. Take advantage of these sources to become a better informed citizen.

Immediately following this member meeting, there will be a Cincinnati Mayoral Forum broadcast live from WCPO, cosponsored by Cincinnatus Association. Those interested are welcome to stay and watch the forum on the big screen at WCPO-TV. Click here for more information.
